About Us

WHEN AND WHERE ARE MEETINGS HELD?

We meet the second Wednesday of each month at the
Town of Esopus Library,
28 Canal Street, Port Ewen, NY, beginning at 6:30 pm.

HOW DOES ONE BECOME A MEMBER?

Our membership  kick-off is held at each September meeting, at which time we informally  conduct registration and form a members’ emailing list. The membership  year runs from September to August of the following year. As well, new  members are welcome to join at any time during the membership year and  are then added to our membership email list.
An active member is defined as one who has  who attends at  least two meetings during the membership year. A membership card is  issued to each registrant. As active members, individuals are eligible  to participate in the club’s annual exhibit (usually in March at the  Duck Pond Gallery) and may submit one photograph, and/or participate in  our bi-monthly exhibits at the Town of Esopus Town Hall.. (A modest  hanging fee is assessed,)

HOW ARE COMPETITIONS CONDUCTED?

Competitions are open to any member or guest in attendance.
            If submitting an image, please
                 * adhere to the assigned topic,
                 * present photographs in matted, unframed form, and at least 8"X10" in size
A competition ballot is obtained upon signing in on  Attendance Sheet; photos are judged by attendees. Awards are given to  1st through 5th place (top 5 vote-receivers). Competition results are  always made available for review.
At various times, critiques of entries are conducted. A  highly qualified club member or guest presenter gives constructive  criticism in an open forum during critiques. Members are also encouraged  to ask questions, and add comments. It is assumed that all attendees  will reap the benefits of such pointed discussions, and learn how to  apply techniques into their own photography.  Please see Evaluations and Critiques for additional details and guidance.
